It’s something my Daddy has said to me for as long as I can remember, and 40 years later, I couldn’t agree more.
This simple truth has shaped so much of how I approach life. It’s a reminder that how we prepare—how we show up in the small moments—directly influences how we show up when it really matters.
Chaos, ADD, and the Need for Order
As someone who’s lived with ADD, chaos has always been my kryptonite. When things are unorganized, my motivation disappears. It’s like my brain refuses to function until I’ve cleared my space.
I need organization like I need to breathe.
But here’s what I’ve learned: the best way to combat chaos is with a solid morning routine.
Why Morning Routines Matter 🌅
I’m going out on a limb here to tell you this: you need a morning routine like you need to breathe.
It’s that important.
The days when I schedule time for myself and stick to my plan? Those are the days I feel unstoppable. I’m inspired, creative, and ready to take on the world.
But the days I skip my morning routine? Those are the days I question everything. It’s a reminder that how we start the day sets the tone for everything that follows.
My Morning Routine: A Game-Changer
Here’s what I’ve incorporated into my mornings to stay motivated, grounded, and ready to face whatever comes my way:
- Shower 🚿
I know, it sounds basic. But as an entrepreneur, it’s easy to put it off until later—and then “later” never comes. Taking a quick shower in the morning makes me feel refreshed and ready to tackle the day. - Pray 🙏
Prayer is my lifeline.- I pray for guidance, strength, patience, and understanding.
- I remind myself of “God’s Timing, God’s Plan.” These words keep me centered, no matter how chaotic life gets.
- Move Your Body 🏃♀️
Whether it’s a walk, yoga, or playing fetch with the dog, movement is essential. You don’t need a fancy workout plan—just find something that gets you moving and lifts your energy. - Ground Yourself 🌍
Take a moment to connect with the earth, your space, and your thoughts. Grounding helps clear mental clutter and brings a sense of calm. - Think Positively 🌟
Start the day with positive affirmations. Speak life over yourself and others. Your words hold power—use them wisely. - Fuel Your Body 🍳
Be kind to yourself by eating well. Food is fuel, and what you put into your body affects how you feel and function. - Meditate 🧘♀️
Reflect on your struggles, your dreams, and the blessings in your life. Meditation helps me find clarity and gratitude, even on the hardest days. - Gratitude Practice 💖
Gratitude is magic. When you focus on what you’re thankful for, it shifts your mindset and transforms your outlook. - Journal & Plan 📝
I take a few moments each morning (and evening) to jot down my thoughts and plan my day. It helps me stay intentional and focused.
Why This Matters
Life can be overwhelming. Some days, it feels like a battle just to keep going. But having a morning routine has helped me find peace in the chaos and purpose in the pain.
This is my way of giving back—sharing what’s worked for me in the hopes that it can help you, too.
Start Your Day with Intention
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck, try creating a morning routine that works for you. Start small, stay consistent, and watch how it transforms your days—and your life.
Remember, you play like you practice. Show up for yourself in the small moments, and you’ll be ready for whatever life throws your way. 💓
