My Chemotherapy Journey: Neulasta On-body Injector Review and Iron Infusion Experience

Navigating chemotherapy can be challenging, and each treatment brings unique experiences and side effects. Here, I share my honest review of the Neulasta On-body Injector and my decision to pause iron infusions.

The Role of Neulasta in Chemotherapy

Neulasta helps prevent infections that can occur due to the strong effects of chemotherapy. After my first round of chemo 21 days ago, I received both chemotherapy and an iron infusion, which made it difficult to pinpoint specific symptoms.

Iron Infusion Side Effects

The iron infusion caused severe diarrhea and a persistent headache that lasted a week. Additionally, I experienced unexpected nose and gum bleeding. Due to these side effects, I decided to pause the iron infusions for my second round of chemotherapy.

Neulasta On-body Injector Experience

The Neulasta On-body Injector is applied to my stomach 30 minutes after the last chemo infusion. Here’s how it works:

Attachment: Taped to my stomach after the chemo session.

Injection: A catheter injects the medication within about 5 minutes.

Monitoring: 27 hours later, a series of flashing lights and beeps signal the medication’s injection over 30 minutes.

Completion: Once the light stops blinking, it’s safe to remove the device.

Despite the complex process, the pain is minimal, and it plays a crucial role in my treatment.

Staying Focused

I prefer to stay in the moment and focus on what I want rather than getting bogged down in the details. However, I plan to pay more attention to the specifics of my treatment in future posts.

Honest Review

I do not receive any compensation for my medications. This review is purely based on my personal experience and documentation of my chemotherapy journey.

Chemotherapy is a challenging process, but understanding and documenting your journey can help manage symptoms and make informed decisions. Stay tuned for more updates on my treatment experiences and insights.
